Our love story
First time we meet
They say love comes slowly, and we can certainly testify to that. It wasn’t loud or fast, but each day planted
a seed of something beautiful that we wake up to today. In 2019, before the lockdown, we met at a church gathering
on the University of Zimbabwe grounds. It was quite random; as I was giving a sermon, I spotted this girl in the crowd.
It felt like a holy moment, so I didn’t want to spoil it. I simply said "Hi," got her name, and that was it—not even
a number. Hard to believe, right?
Fast forward a couple of months to April 2020, when, buried deep in my memory, her name popped up. I decided to hunt her
down and, in doing so, made a new friend. Our friendship blossomed through WhatsApp, especially during those Covid times
when meeting in person wasn’t possible.
Never had I met someone cooler—our conversations flowed effortlessly, always exciting and worth looking forward to. We
shared our lives and dreams; every ordinary moment seemed a little more radiant when shared with each other. Our friendship
flourished for an entire year before I finally decided to make a move...
First date
A few months after I told him we could try something, I found myself in Harare. Having only talked on the phone until then,
it was finally time for our first date.
Dressed up and excited, I headed to our meet-up place at Parirenyatwa MedRez, where we made our way to a restaurant called
Hungry Panda. It felt magical to finally be talking face-to-face with the person I had connected with over the phone for so
long.
As we sat down, the conversation flowed effortlessly, and we shared so much about our lives—hopes, dreams, and everything in
between. Every word felt like a piece of the puzzle coming together, illuminating what had been a budding connection. It was
a pivotal moment that deepened our bond and set the stage for what was to come.
Proposal
On April 10, 2025, the world shifted for us. What began as an exploratory date between two close friends took an unforgettable turn.
As we sat in the charming quesite, soaking in the ambiance, a handsome guy appeared, surprising me with a bouquet of vibrant red roses.
In that moment, everything felt magical.
Then, in an unexpected gesture of love, he knelt down on one knee. I could hardly believe my eyes—I almost fainted from the sheer joy!
But deep down, I knew I wanted nothing more than to say "Yes."
